Application of Lime-free Liming Agent in Liming Process

A novel lime-free liming agent was prepared and applied liming process.The optimum dosage of this liming agent was determined,by comparing the dispersing ability of this lime-free liming agent and traditional lime to collagen fiber.The results show that the performance,such as the rate of live weight growth,the expansion ratio and dispersing degree of collagen fiber,the shrinkage temperature as well as mechanical properties of final leather,are as good as that of the common liming agent.In addition,the BOD 5/COD value of the waste water from lime-free liming process is more than 0.50,whilst the BOD 5/COD value of common liming process is 0.37,which indicates that the waste water from the former is easy to be bio-degradated.Meanwhile,no liming sullage which is difficult to disposal is produced.It is supposed to replace lime in the future as an environmental friendly agent because of its small dosage,low cost and environmental-friendly.
