Breeding of New Early Bitter Gourd F_1 Hybrid' Xiang Kugua No. 1'

Xue Dayu; Huang Yanwu (Hunan Vegetable Research Institute, Changsha 410125 )  
Xiang Kugua No. 1 is a F1 of crossing 8901-1-4 and 003-2-3. This F1 hybrid has early maturity, high productivity and good quality. Under protection or in the open field in spring, it can be harvested 45 days after transplanting. In summer and fall, it can be harvested 42days after transplanting. The yield was 45t / ha in the open field in spring and 97.5t / ha from spring to fall. Its early yield, total yield and quality were higher than those of Zhuzhou changbai bitter gourd. The new F1 hybird has been extended in Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, Jiangxi and Guizhou etc.
