The Research on Yin-Yang Nature of Almond

Objective: This study was performed to investigate the Yin-yang nature of five different types of almonds, including natural nonpareil almond, blanched whole broken almond, roasted nonpareil almond, roasted mission almond and oil roasted and salted almond. Methods: 80 female SPF Wistar rats were randomly divided into the control group, the cold medicine group, the hot medicine group and the almond group. The diets of the above groups were the distilled water, zhimu-gypsum tonic, Fuzi-ginger tonic and the five different types of almonds powder tonic, respectively. After 21 days, the nature of almonds was compared to the cold hot medicine through testing the TCM symptoms on rats and the modern biochemical indices. Result: The cold medicine group showed the cold syndrome and the hot medicine group showed the hot syndrome. The almond group showed the hot syndrome, which was less than the hot medicine group. Conclusion: Five different types of California almonds are all with warm nature.
