A Primary Study on Dating of Dunes by Using the Characteristics of Thermoluminescence in Quartz

The thermoluminescence storing in quartz littice can be faded away under sunshine.This property may be used for the dating of dunes. A profile, which sandwiched in the crossbedding of fossil dunes and loess sediments, in yulin, Northern China, is sellected to analysis. The dating of two sections of loess, which deposited above and below the fossil dunes in the crossbedding, was carried out simultaniously by using the skilled method (thermoluminescence technique) while conducting the dating of dunes. So doing provided a reliable evidence on the dating of dunes.
