Management of Soil Moisture for Growing Reaumuria soongorica Seedlings

The xerophil shrub Reaumuria soongorica which distributes at the area of rainfall from 60 mm to 300 mm is both the constructive species of this area and the primary plant for man-made auxiliary vegetation restoration.So it is important to study the relationship between the survival rate of Reaumuria soongorica seedlings and soil moisture content.The study objects are Reaumuria soongorica container seedlings and direct sowing tree seedlings of various ages.We studied the relation between soil moisture content during the period of Reaumuria soongorica seedlings and their survival rate.It showed that the survival rate of Reaumuria soongorica seedlings reached about 70% when the soil moisture content in the soil layer of 0~10 cm persisted about at least 20%~30% in the 20th to 25th day;the Reaumuria soongorica seedlings could maintain survival when the soil moisture content in the soil layer of 0~10 cm was at least 10% after the 25th day;the survival rate of Reaumuria soongorica seedlings tended to stabilize after the 30th to 40th day.
