STUDY ON CRYOLITE RESISTANCE OF Si_3N_4/SiC COMPOSITE MATERIALS SINTERED IN OXIDIZING ATMOSPHERE

The cryolite resistance of Si3N4/SiC composite materials sintered in oxidizing atmosphere was studied by crucible method in this paper.The composition and morphology of corroding layers had been analyzed by means of X-Ray diffract meter(XRD)and Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope(FE-SEM).The results show that after the experiment of cryolite erosion at the temperature of 1000℃ for 20 hours under the air condition, there are only a small amount of corrosion residue in the crucible inwall of Si3N4/SiC sintered in oxidizing atmosphere, which indicates that the samples have favorable performance of cryolite resistance.
