A Study on the Height of Wind Break Wall

Based on wind survey and aerodynamic test in wind tunnel and on railway track using model and fullscale ears, the difference between the wind-proof performances of wind break walls of the earth type and the L shaped reinforced concrete shaped type is very small. According to the requirement of train operation the assessment principle and method for wind break wall are presented.The heights of the two types of wind break wall are both 2.4 meters above rail top. The construction cost per kilometer is decreased by 33% or so.The wind pressure distribution of full-scale railway cars on railway track is obtained for the first time. It provides a basis for more thorough study of the similarity law for wind tunnel test. And the lateral aerodynamic property of moving cars is also discussed.
