Evaluation of the Antiseptic Effects of Isothiazole Compound Biocides on the In-can Preservation of Coatings

The thermo stability, compatibility with various coatings and sterilization properties such as antiseptic and anti-mildew properties of environmentally friendly isothiazole biocide A and B are introduced. The thermo stability, compatibility with various coatings and the antibacterial properties of biocide A and B were measured according to GB/T 32777—2016, Kirby-Bauer Test Methods, ASTM D4783-2013, etc. The results show that antiseptic A and B have good stability at the temperature range of-20~55 °C and good compatibility with waterborne coatings and demonstrate good antibacterial effects when these two biocides are employed in the in-can preservation system. Especially, biocide B has more excellent antibacterial performance than biocide A and has anti-mildew property.
