Experimental study on extraintestinal symptom of adult mouse with rotavirus infection

Objective To study the susceptibility and clinical character of adult strain ICR mouse to rotavirus(RV) infection.Methods Adult strain ICR mice which were ordinary and interfered with amoxicillin respectively were experimentally infected by group A human rotavirus.Clinical response was observed and RV-RNA gene was detected.Results Adult ICR mouse was susceptible to RV infection.Apparent extraintestinal symptom was observed in mice,but no apparent diarrhea.RV-RNA gene could be detected in stool samples collected from infected mice at least from the second to sixth day after infection,and the genotype was accorded with the infected rotavirus.Conclusions Adult ICR mouse exhibited apparent extraintestinal symptom and no diarrhea after infected by human rotavirus.Even if the antibiotics were used to disturb the intestinal microfloras before infectiont the diarrhea was not appeared.To set up the model is good for investigating of the extraintestinal symptom and relevant complication.
