Low-cost & Short-term Preparation and Applications of Ultrafine and Nano-scaled WC-Co Composite Powders

This paper reviews the development of the preparation techniques of the ultrafine and nano-scale WC-Co powder by introducing the research advances on ultrafine and nano-scale tungsten carbides.The key techniques include the in-situ synthesis of nano WC-Co composite powders,the processing of ultrafine structured cermet coatings,and the preparation of ultrafine and nanocrystalline cemented tungsten carbides.The in-situ synthesis technique for WC-Co composite powders enjoys the advantages of low-cost,short-term,and a direct route which is easy to control and environment-friendly.With the in-situ synthesized composite powder,the prepared ultrafinestructured cermet coatings,as well as the ultrafine and nanocrystalline cemented tungsten carbides,have excellent properties.
