Toxicities of 5 insecticides to Bemisia tabaci on melon in Hainan province

We tested the toxicity of 5 commonly used insecticides for controlling of whitefly in melon production in Hainan.We used the leaf dipping dish method and the finger-shaped tube method to test the affection of different insecticides virulence to the whiteflies eggs and adults. The order of toxicity insecticides to whitefly eggs was 5% Avermectin22% Sulfoxaflor24% Spirotetramat70% Imidacloprid,and to the adults was 5% Avermectin22% Sulfoxaflor25%Thiamethoxam70% Imidacloprid. Whitefly eggs and adults were sensitive to 5% Avermectin and the LC50 were 0.461 mg·L-1and 0.017 mg·L-1. For 22%Sulfoxaflor the LC50 were 9.556 mg·L-1and 6.907 mg·L-1. Whitefly eggs and adults were extremely sensitive to 5% Avermectin.New insecticide 22% Sulfoxaflor and 24% spirotetramat can also be used as preventive insecticides for melon in Hainan.
