Identification of Edwarsdsiella tarda from infected Schizothorax prenanti

Two bacteria were isolated from diseased Schizothorax prenanti in a farm. The bacteria were identified to be Edwarsdsiella tarda based on physiological and biochemical tests, amplifications of 16 S rDNA and gyrB gene. In addition, the443 bp and 584 bp DNA fragments of the virulence genes of fimA and gadB were amplified from both isolates of E.tarda by PCR.The main histopathologic changes were found in liver, kidney, intestine, brain, gill and muscle. Furthermore, the artificially infected fish showed the same clinical signs and pathologic changes, and the same bacteria were re-isolated from the diseased fish.Antibiotic sensitivity assays showed that among 20 antibiotics tested 10 were sensitive, and 7 were resistant.
