OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effects of aqueous extracts from 6 components of Qingyan dripping pills on coxsackie virus type B3(CVB3)and B5(CVB5)in vitro.METHODS:Using vero cell as a model, the antiviral effects of the aqueous extracts from 6 components of Qingyan dripping pills on CVB3,CVB5 and their cytotoxicity on Vero cells were studied by CPE and MTT method.Antiviral mechanism of the aqueous extracts was also investigated by two different ways.RESULTS:Baked licorice and Terminalia chebula can protect Vero cells from CVB3 and CVB5 by inhibiting the virus of entering into cells and curing the sick cells.CONCLUSION:The aqueous extracts from B.licorice and T.chebula inhibit the proliferation of CVB3 and CVB5 to protect Vero cells. They also have antiviral effect against CVB3 and CVB5.
