Epidemiological Study on Keshan Disease in Shandong Province from 1960 to 2001

Objective To comprehend Kesh an disease(KD) situation in Shandong Province. Method Questionaire was administrated analysed. Result s The years of high frequent-occurring KD were between 1969 an d 1979,with peak in 1974-1977.The aged 2～18 were susceptible to the disease, most focus on the groups aged 5-10.And female cases were much more than males .The death rate of acute KD in one month was 88.1%.The subacute rate died in one year was 68.2%.The chronic and latent died in 5 years were 73.7%,1.7%. There were three forms in latent KD,sudden death,death of illness and outheart death.The normal changes of electrocardiogram(ECG)existed in ST-T,sinus tachy cardia,ventricular premature beats,lift ventricular hypertrophy strain and bun dle branch block(BBB).The checking rates were 13.2%-40.2%;10.1%-30.4%;4. 6%-17.2%;2.0%-10.1%;2.0%-9.2% respectively.Conclusion The epidemiological surveillance on KD in the future work,and improve the health status of all people in endemic areas.
