Synthesis and the antibacterial activity of 1,4-bis [(5-aryl-1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)methyl]piperazines

Aim To study on the synthesis and antibacterial activity of the new multi- heterocycles.Methods The condensation of various 2-aryl-5-chloromethyl-1,3,4-oxadiazoles with excessive piperazine gave the corresponding 1,4-bis[(1,3,4-oxadiazol-2-yl)methyl]piperazine derivatives,and the in vitro antibacterial activity was primarily evaluated by the method of the agar two-fold dilution method.Results The fourteen novel titled compounds were synthesized,their structures were confirmed by IR, 1H-NMR,MS and elementary analysis.The biological screening results demonstrated that most of the compound prepared displayed the relatively potential antibacterial activity.Conclusion Bis-oxadiazole piperazines may be usefully antibacterial candidate drugs.
