Dynamics of oleic acid contents in organs of high-oleic rapeseed lines

For high oleic acid(OA) breeding,two series of Brassica napus mutants were used to investigate the dynamic changes of OA accumulation in both vegetative and reproductive organs.Results showed that the relative OA content was high in root,less in stem,and low in leaves.The contents changed in organs at different stages.In root,it was high in mature period,medium in seedling period,and low in flowering period.In stem,it was high in mature period,medium in green-recovering period,and less in flowering period.In leaves,it was high in bolting period,less in flowering period.At the first two weeks after blooming,OA accumulated mainly in silique walls.The relative content in silique walls reached the highest at the 3rd week after flowering,then it accumulated mainly in seeds.The relative OA contents of vegetative organs had significant positive correlation with that of mature seeds(r=0.81).In each period except for flowering,the relative OA contents of vegetative organs had extremely significant positive correlation with that of reproductive organs(r=0.92).The OA accumulation phenotype indicated that genes controlling the OA synthesis in tested mutants were probably constitutive expressed.The positive correlations between vegetative organs and reproductive organs could facilitate early screening of high OA content individuals in breeding program.
