Study on Bacteriostatic Effect of Aloe Compound Membrane

OBJECTIVE To observe the inhibitory effect of percutaneous absorption membrane of aloe compound and study the influence of decolorization process on bacteriostatic effect of membrane.METHODS The active ingredients extracted from the traditional Chinese medicine such as aloe were blended in a certain proportion in order to prepare the aloe compound film.Antibacterial effects on six strains of bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus were observed by means of paper disk method and compared with band-aid.RESULTS The inhibitory effects on Staphylococcus epidermidis,S.aureus and Escherichia coli in various degrees,whereas the inhibitory effect on β-hemolytic streptococcus,Proteus vulgaris,Pseudomonas aeruginosa weren′t found.Decolorization process didn′t affect the inhibitory effect of membrane evidently.CONCLUSION Aloe compound film which could be transdermally absorbed presents a promising potential in adjuvant therapy for ulcers,bedsores and other skin or mucous membrane infections.
