Observation on the therapeutic effect of acupuncture an d moxibustion in 120 cases of rheumatoid arthritis

Objective To compare therapeutic effects of acup uncture-moxibustion and western medicine for treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Methods The treatment group (n=120) were treated by acupunc ture and moxibustion at Fengchi (GB 20), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Wangu (SI 4), Hegu ( LI 4), Neiguan (PC 6), Dubi (ST 35), Zusanli (ST 36) and Yanglingquan (GB 34)- through-Yinlingquan (SP 9), and the control group (n=120) were treated by methotrexate plus diclofenatis. Results The total effective rate was 72 5% in the treatment gr oup and 60 0% in the control group with a significant difference between the t wo groups (P0 05); there was no reverse effect in the treatment group. Conclusion Acupuncture-moxibustion is a safe and effective the rapy for rheumatoid arthritis.
