Performance and Characteristic Analysis of an Anaerobic Baffled Reactor Treating Soybean Wastewater

Process characteristic and OLR influence on COD removal efficiency of anaerobic baffled reactor(ABR) treating soybean wastewater were investigated in a 4-compartment ABR reactor with an effective volume of 28 L.The organic loading rate(OLR) increased stage by stage in order to cultivate sludge.The result indicated that,under the condition of hydraulic retention time(HRT) of 39.5 h,temperature of(35 ±1) ℃,and starting influent COD concentration of 2000 mg·L-1,and with aerobic activated sludge inoculation of 18.0 g·L-1 in terms of MLVSS,the ABR achieved stable operation in 31 days and obtain a COD removal of 96%.The reactor has strong capacity of resisting high loading.When the influent COD concentration gradually increased to 10000 mg·L-1(OLR 6.0 kg·m-3d-1),the reactor could performed steadily with a COD removal efficiency as high as 98%.
