Analysis on the Characteristics of MSW during Dry Season in Tibetan Plateau

The amount of MSW and its physical and chemical characteristics in Lhasa City were investigated,studied and analyzed.The results showed that the amount of MSW in Lhasa City increased rapidly and it reached to 600 tons per day in 2010,in which the organic content was 20.45%,inorganic matters 22.83%,and the recyclable matters 55.69%.Furthermore,the content of carbon element reached to 27.34%.Except the content of Hg,other heavy metal content could reach the control standards for agricultural usage.Comparing with other cities,the MSW in Lhasa had some obvious characteristics such as a high capita discharge(1.37 kg.d-1 per capita),low water content(24%),high ash content(38%),high lower calorific value(7877 kJ.kg-1) and a high content of recyclable matters.
