Objective: To explore the effect of Hero642 rotary Nickel-Titanium instrument on the endodontic interappointment emergencies in old patients after molar root canal preparation. Methods: 138 molars in old patients were randomly divided into two groups which were treated with Hero642 Nickel-titanium rotary instruments and stainless steel K-files respectively. The incidence of endodontic interappointment emergencies in the two groups was compared. Results: In Hero642 Nickel-titanium group, the incidence of endodontic interappointment emergencies was 16.46%, while 37.29% of the teeth in the control group developed interappointment emergencies after hand preparation. There was significant difference between the two groups (P 0.01). Conclusion: Hero642 rotary Nickel-Titanium instrument can decrease the incidence of endodontic interappointment emergencies of old patients' molars after root canal preparation.
