Objective The study investigated the effect of the insight education on insight recovering in schizophrenia patients. Methods 95 schizophrenia inpatients were randomly assigned into two groups: drug therapy group (n=48) and insight education combining with drug therapy group (n=47). The Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale (BPRS) and the Insight Treatment Attitude Questionnaire (ITAQ) were used to assess the patients in above two groups just when they admitted in and discharged from hospital. Their drug therapy compliance was measured within the first week of hospitalization and six weeks after. Results It was found that the scores of BPRS in two groups didn′t show significant difference (P0.05). The scores of the ITAQ were closed at the beginning of hospitalization in two groups, but the score in combined therapy group was significant higher than that in drug therapy group when they discharged (P0.01). The compliance of drug therapy in combined therapy group was significantly better than the drug therapy group (P0.01). Conclusion The results indicate that the insight education is important to insight recovering in schizophrenia patients.
