GEOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF CHINA OFFSHORE GAS-BEARING OVERPRESSURE BASINS AND EXPLORATION PROPOSALS

Wang Shanshu Hu Zhongqin(China National Offshore Oil Corporation, Beijing)
All China offshore gas-bearing basins (or depression) are of overpressure basins of which Yinggehai basin is of conversion-tension high temperature high geopressure basin, and the other basins or depressions are consisted of overpressure gas-bearing half grabens. In this paper it is given that their geological characteristics and forming conditions of gas pools, and new exploration directions and proposals. There are still broad areas in China offshore remaining un-explofed, which are favorable for gas accumulation. Stressing on geological study, and conducted by the theory that overpressure regimes control gas accumulation in overpressure basins. will greatly increase exploration successful ratios.
