Mathematic characteristics of Well Logging Curve Unit and quantitative identification of sedimentary miscrofacies

With the progress of oilfield development, well logging data is becoming more and more important in studying sedimentary microfacies. The characteristics of various microfacies are identified on well log curves, and then a concept of Well Logging Curve Unit (WLCU) is introduced. In term of microfacies, the elements to illustrate shapes of WLCU are carefully analyzed, and their mathematic characteristics are described. In order to quantitatively interpret WLCU shapes, several typical mathematic models have been established, such as box_like and bell_like models, and their software systems are developed. These results may provide an available approach to the quantitative study of sedimentary microfacies.
