Study on motion performance of 3 000 meters deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform

The SASEM procedure system is taken as the main tool to analyze four kinds motion performance of deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform.First,3D hydrodynamic finite element model is built,and then to calculate the transfer functions and intrinsic period for motion performance of semi-submersible drilling platform by the way of utilizing Morison equation and potential flow theory.On the basis of calculations,frequency domain analysis is applied to predict short term motion response for motion performance of semisubmersible drilling platform with the South China Sea environmental conditions combined.The research results are valuable for selecting the configuration of deep-water semi-submersible drilling platform.
