Main controlling factors for the development of high quality lacustrine hydrocarbon source rocks in offshore China

High quality lacustrine hydrocarbon source rocks are developed in Bohai sea,ZhuⅠ and Zhu Ⅲ depressions of Pearl River Mouth basin and Beibuwan basin,offshore China.These source rocks are characterized by high organic matter abundance,good kerogen type and high genetic potential.The analysis on the main controlling factors for the development of high quality lacustrine hydrocarbon source rocks shows that:1Eutrophic water is the basis for high organic matter productivity of paleo-lakes.The composition and content of inorganic elements are closely related with the content of algae and the quality of source rocks.Ancient rivers and volcanic activities are the main sources of essential nutrient matters for phytoplankton algae.2Stable delamination of water body is essential for organic matter preservation.Under hot and humid paleoclimate in Eocene offshore China,high activity rate of boundary faults and high settlement rate are beneficial to the development of deep lacustrine environment which may result in stable delamination of water body,favorable organic matter preservation conditions and high quality hydrocarbon source rocks.
