Reservoir-forming conditions,oil distribution and exploration potential of compound hydrocarbon reservoirs in the Lufeng 13 sag in Pearl River Mouth basin

The Lufeng 13 sag in the Lufeng depression,a key research zone of the Pearl River Mouth basin,develops a compound stratigraphic texture with multi-structural layers.The latest 3 D seismic interpretation and analysis of geology and geochemistry data from new wells suggest that multiple sets of reservoir assemblages,which are framed by a compound migration system of fractures and sand bodies near to the hydrocarbon-rich sag and a compound stratigraphic texture,are in favor of the compound-reservoir forming in the Lufeng13 sag.The compoundreservoir forming is featured by"one source for multiple reservoirs,oil bearing in tri-dimensional space"in the sag,where hydrocarbons in the plane mainly distribute in three oil and gas accumulation zones of the low highs around the sag,near-to-sag slope area and central anticline in the sag,respectively.The typical dissection and analysis of oil and gas reservoirs indicates the three compound hydrocarbon accumulation zones have distinct variations in oilbearing horizons,migration system,oil reservoir types,crude oil types,migration and accumulation patterns,etc..Guided by the theory on compound hydrocarbon accumulation belts and exploration practices,the further exploration should focus on Palaeogene large-scale structural and lithological compound traps and structural traps in the two flanks of the central anticline belt in the sag,rather than the compound hydrocarbon accumulation belt of low highs around the sag with limited exploration potential.
