Surgical treatment of Mallet finger fractures by Ishiguro's technique

Objective To introduce and evaluate the outcome of Mallet finger fractures using Ishiguro technique. Methods 10 cases of Mallet finger fractures were treated using Ishiguro's technique. The K wires were removed after 6 weeks. After a period of half a year follow up, the active range of motion of DIP joint and roentgenogram were evaluated. Results The active range of motion at DIP joint averaged 72 degrees in 10 cases and no complications occurred. Conclusions Ishiguro's technique is an easy managed and effective procedure for treatment of Mallet finger fractures with the fracture more than one third of the joint surface.
