The effects of acanthopanax senticosus on oncogene expression of hepatocellular carcinoma

Objective\ To determine effects of acanthopanax senticosus (ASS) on the growth and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).Methods\ Human HCC cells were implanted into abdominal cavities of BALB/c mice. The mice were injected containing ASS for twice every week until eight weeks after tumour implantation. The expression oncogene of tumour tissues were obversed. Results\ The expression rate of nm23 H1 in ASS 0.25 mg/kg and 1.00 mg/kg treating mice were 33.33% and 50%, in Control group was 16.03% ( P 0.05). The mean tumour weight in mice with ASS and 1.00 mg/kg were lower than these of control group, the tumour growth rate were inhibited by 45.43% and 72.06%. Metastasis rate to peritoneum was lower than those of control group. Conclusions\ ASS is effective in inhibiting tumour growth and metastasis of human HCC in BABL/c mice. Inducing anti-tumour effect.\;
