Analyses of Genetic Effects and Combining Ability of Inbred Lines Derived from Teosinte×Maize Synthesis G

Genetic components,heritability and combining ability of agronomic and economic characters of inbred lines,derived from distance hybridization,were evaluated by 10×7 diallel cross,in which 10 female lines were developed from annual Mexican teosinte(Zea Mexican Schard) Maize Synthesis G and 7 male lines were typically used in Chinese maize production.The results indicated that days to silking,plant height,stem diameter,ear length and 100 kernel weight were mainly influenced by the additive genetic effect with high narrow heritability benefiting for early generation selection;and stem strength,ear diameter,rows per ear and kernels per row by both additive and non-additive effect;while ear height,ear weight,kernel weight per ear and kernel rate by non-additive effect with low narrow heritability,which can be selected only in late generations.The analytical results of general combining ability show that GT107 can be a good potential parent for breeding of high yieild with early maturity,dwarf plant and resistance to lodging.
