Effects of Simulated Acid Rain on Seed Germination and Seedling Growth of Oenothera speciosa

Seeds of Oenothera speciosa were selected as experimental materials,effects of simulated acid rain on seed germination and seedling growth were studied by simulating acid rain solution with different p H values. Results showed that,seed germination and seedling growth of Oenothera speciosa were suffered different influences under acid rain stress. Only 5 percent of seeds germinated when p H values was 2. 5. Germination energy,germination rate and vitality index significantly dropped under acid rain stress with p H value from 2. 5to 3. 0,while it had no significant effect on germination energy and vitality index under other treatments,but the growth of roots of Oenothera speciosa seedlings was greatly inhibited under all of the p H values. Only when p H value was 2. 5,seedling shoot length and fresh weight significant decreased. So it had no significant effect on seed germination of Oenothera speciosa under p H value higher than 3. 5,but it was greatly inhibited under p H lower than 3. 0. and the growth of root was most sensitive to acid rain stress.
