Analysis of Nutritional Composition and Germination Characteristics of Two Pisum sativum var.saccharatum Varieties Seeds

In this paper,the nutritional composition and germination characteristics of seeds of two snow pea(Pisum sativum var.saccharatum)varieties were studied.The results showed that the varieties Fengsheng 604 and Gailiang 604 had similar seed weight,seed size,water content and germination characteristics.Analysis of the nutritional composition revealed that total protein,total sugar,total Polysaccharides and total fat in seeds of these two varieties had no significant differences.During germination,the soluble sugar and soluble protein content in seedlings of these two varieties gradually decreased in a similar way.Seeds of Fengsheng 604 had higher contents of total amino acid,methionine and crude fibre,indicating that the seeds of Fengsheng 604 have more nutritional value than Gailiang604.
