Preparation of Combination Electrode of(Ni-W-P)-TiO_2 and Its Catalytic Activity for Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

Objective To prepare the combination electrode with better catalytic activity for the hydrogen evolution reaction.Methods(Ni-W-P)-TiO2composite coating was prepared using electrodeposition.The catalytic performance of Ni,Ni-W-P and(Ni-W-P)-TiO2was compared using cathodic polarization curve,Tafel curve,and AC impedance.Results The catalytic performance of(Ni-W-P)-TiO2composite coating at 20℃ was best;the electrode potential of the(Ni-W-P)-TiO2electrode was 105mv lower than that of Ni-W-P electrode and 326mV lower than that of Ni electrode at the current density of 100mA·cm-2;the apparent exchange current density of the combination electrode was 1.42times as much as that of the Ni-W-P electrode,and 143times as much as that of Ni electrode;Compared with Ni-W-P electrode,the apparent activation energy of composite coating reduced by 11.54kJ·mol-1 and the electrochemical resistance decreased by 20Ω·cm-2.Conclusion The catalytic performance of(Ni-W-P)-TiO2is better,and it could be efficient and low-cost catalytic material for the hydrogen evolution reaction.
