Inheritance of anthocyanin pigment and factors affecting its expression in jute ( Corchorus olitorius L. )
Wong Caihao & Shoo Baofu (Zhejiang. Agricultural University)
The inheritance and expression of anthory.:nin pigment in jute were studied during 1986-1988. The results indicated that the inheritance of the pigment was controlled by a pair of allele genes. Light was necessary for the synthesis of the pigment, but the rate and content were determined by sugar concentration. Light intensity and nitrogen level affected sugar content through which the content of the pigment was affected. The cell that synthesizes the pigment might be related with synthesis of chlorophyll. The pigment could be translocated in the plant.
