Balance Analysis on South Hangzhou Bay Wetland Based on Remote Sensing Images

Detecting the changes of wetland is quite important for the protection,rebuilding and sustainable utilization of the wetland. Taking the wetland of South Hangzhou Bay for example,three remote sensing images acquired in 1998,2006 and2013 are introduced in this paper. First,the images are classified by the algorithm of Support Vector Machines( SVM).Then,the change detection is fulfilled based on the results of the classification. Finally,the variation of the land coverage in this area is analyzed both in macroscopic and microcosmic scale. The results show that,in 15 years,there was a largescale reclamation in this area and the wetland was increased by 319. 195 sq. km. In addition,16. 1% tidelands in 1998-2006 and 9. 20% tidelands in 2006-2013 were replaced by the building land,which illustrated that the urban construction is developed rapidly in recent years.
