Synthesis of 3-Chloro-2-methyl-2-hydroxypropylurea

The method for synthesizing 3-Chloro-2-methyl2-hydroxypropylurea is investigated by the reaction of 2-methylepichlorohydrin with urea. The optimum conditions are as follows:the volume ratio of 2-methylepichlorohydrin to 50%urea solution is 0.58,the reaction temperature is70~80℃,the reaction time is 75minutes and 10 mL0.1mol/L Na3PO4,the chloridion production rate and epoxide number of the product are all small. The product is basically 3-Chloro-2-methyl-2-hydroxypropylurea.
