Cutting Force Prediction for Milling Titanium TC11

YANG Lei, SHI Yaoyao, YANG Qiaofeng, HU Chuangguo(Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an 710072, CHN)  
This paper presents a mechanistic force model for a cylindrical end mill, which is based on the linear decomposition of elemental local cutting forces into a shearing component and a ploughing component. It is verified that the predicted cutting forces are identical to the real forces both in shape and in magnitude.
