Topology Optimization of Continuum Structure Using Hybrid Elements and Artificial Material Model

YUAN Zhen, WU Chang-chun, ZHUANG Shou-bing (Department of Modern Mechanics, USTC, Hefei 230026, China)  
Hybrid elements are used in this paper for topology optimization of continuum structure. And expressions have been derived for analytical response sensitivity computation and numerical computation in topology optimization process. Numerical examples of plane problem are presented and numerical results of 4-node hybrid elements have been compared with those of 4-node isoparametric compatible ones. The improvement in the accuracy of final optimal results using hybrid elements as compared with conventional isoparametric elements is examined and the passibility of solving checkboard pattern problems is greatly improved.
