Impact of Latent Heat on the Precipitation Function of Mei-Yu Systems──a Numerical Study

Contrastive experiments with and without latent heat for an exceptionally torrential rain event during the monsoon period of July 1991 have been petformed in using the YH model. The results show that the temperature variations accompanied by the latent heat of the intense monsoon precipitation lead to changes in the position and intensity of various weather systems at different levels along the rain belt,giving rise to a series of adjustments of the collocation of those systems, thus enhsncing the precipitation function of the whole Mei-Yu system and forming the multiple influence on way of latent heat to the Mei-Yu precipitstion.
