Study on Some Decomposition and Combustion Properties of Polyurethane Modified by Phosphazene

Combustion and decomposition properties in polyurethane modified by phosphazene compounds were investigated by using the electron spin resonance(ESR) spintrapping technique and pyrolyzerGCMS. The long lived gas phase radicals in combustion and decomosition products of polyurethane were studied. It is shown that the concentration of radicals in combustion is reduced by adding hexachlorotriphosphazene containing chlorine, and that decomposition in polyurethane is accelerated by adding phosphazene compounds at a moderate temperature.
