In order to improve the leaching and carbonation rates of calcium and magnesium ions in steelmaking slag, the chemical and phase compositions have been analyzed with fluorescence spectrometer and X-ray diffraction(XRD).Also, the leaching of different amounts of hydrochloric acid and acetic acid and the effects of temperature and stirring conditions have been investigated. The results showed that hydrochloric acid as a leaching reagent can achieve good results with a leaching rate up to 93.4%,which was higher than the leaching rate of acetic acid 85.8%.Moreover,the purity of calcium carbonate is 91.02%and the conversion rate 56.5%.The leaching rate with acetic acid is higher than with hydrochloric acid at 80℃,and the stirring is favorable for ion leaching.
