Impact of Social Support on Quality of Life and Rehabilitation in Patients with Schizophrenia

Objective:To investigate the social support of patients with schizophrenia,and to explore its impact on quality of life and rehabilitation.Methods:118 Patients with schizophrenia were included in our study during June 2012 August and 2013 August and were randomly allocated to experimental group and controlled group.Experimental group was given social support intervention("individual-group-family"mode),while controlled group was only given routine nursing.SSRS,SQLS,and BPRS were used to evaluate the social support,quality of life and rehabilitation of the patients.Results:After the intervention,patients receiving social support intervention showed greater improvement of SSRS score,SQLS score,and BPRS score from baseline compared with controlled group(P0.05).There were significant differences between experimental and controlled group in SQLS score and BPRS score except dimensions of symptoms and side reactions after intervention(P0.05).There was negative correlation between social support and SQLS score and BPRS score(P0.05).Conclusion:Social support intervention could improve the social support of patients with schizophrenia,thus promote the quality of life and rehabilitation prognosis.
