The Contribution and Mechanism of Psychosocial Factors in the Onset of Diabetes Mellitus: Ⅳ. Risk Factor Analysis on the Onset of NIDDM

Objective: To determing the risk factors of the onset of Non-Insulin Dependence DiabetesMellitus (NIDDM) with Logisitic regression analysis. Methods: A total 131 Imparing Glucose Tolerance(IGT) and 91 control subjects with normal glucose tolerance were followed by evaluation of their psychosocial factors and some physical indexs for 18 months. Results: Stress Life Events (SLE) is the first risk factor in two logistic regression analyses about blood glucose transformation from normal to NIDDM and from IGT to NIDDM, even though the contribution of SLE, active coping style and use of social support are less than that of age and Body Magnitude Index (BMI) in logistic regression analysis about blood glucose transformation from normal to IGT. Conclusion: Psychosocial factors show their roles based on the physical situations to onset of NIDDM and may mainly effect the process of blood transformation from IGT to NIDDM.
