Objective:To provide anatomic basis for clinical diagnosis and the treatment of entrapment of common palmar digital nerve by exploring the relationship between it and common palmar digital artery and its branches. Methods:The palm of 60 specimens of hand were selected and dissected. The frequency of occurrence and the number of branches of common palmar digital artery, as well the number of its branches which crossing common palmar nerve, and the morphologic features of nerves at the crossing point was observed and recorded. All data were analyzed statistically. Results: 5 hands (10.3 ‰) were found morphologic changes of entrapment. The results of the survey were as follows: sample rate P=1.47%, standard error Sp=0.65%, rate of entrapment 1.47%+0.65%, and 95% confidence interval (0.20%-2.74%). Conclusions: As one of reasons, common digital palmar artery may cause the entrapment of common palmar digital nerve.
