The effect of ozone therapy on the shift of Th1/Th2 subsets in patients with lymphoma

Objective:To observe the effect of ozone therapy on the shift of CD4+T lymphocytes Th1/Th2 in peripheral blood of patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma before and after chemotherapy.Methods:Treating group of 37 patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma was given ozone therapy during the chemotherapy,combined with major O3 auto-hemoytherapy and rectal O3 gas insuffiation.Contrasting group of 30 patients with the same illness was given the same chemotherapy.Each was given two cycles.IFN-r and IL-4′s expression in CD4+T lymphocytes were detected by FCM in 67 cases of patients with NHL and 30 healthy adults to reflect Th1,Th2 cell′s quantities and to evaluate the curative effect and the changes of tumor-makers LDH and β2-MG.Results:①Compared with those of the normal controls,peripheral Th1 cells and Th1/Th2 ratio were markedly lower in patients with NHL.There was significant difference between them,whereas Th2 cell had no obviously changes.②After treatment,Th1 cells and Th1/Th2 ratio apparently increased(P0.05) in treating group,but Th2 cells had no significant changes with lowered LDH and β2-MG.③In contrasting group:Th1 cell,Th1/Th2 ratio and LDH were markedly reducd,but Th2 cell increase and β2-MG had no significant changes after treatment.④After treatment,treated group′s Th1 cell and Th1/Th2 ratio were higher than in contrast group,while Th2 cell,LDH and β2-MG of treating group were lower than those of in contrast group.The difference had marked significance.⑤The treated group′s complete response (CR) was 64.9%.Partial response (PR) was 29.7% and CR+PR was 94.6%.The contracting group′s CR was 40.0% and CR+PR was 70.0%.Compared with the two groups,treated group′s CR and CR+PR were significantly increased with statistical significance (P0.05).Conclusion:It is suggested that Th1 cells decrease and Th2 cells are nearly normal,so Th1/Th2 balance of patients with NHL shift to Th2 bias.After the chemotherapy,the ratio of Th1/Th2 to Th2 subsets is changed,but O3 can interfere or depress the balance of Th1/Th2 shift to Th2.Using ozone as an adjunct to chemotherapy can improve the recent curative effect in NHL.
