Richards Time Function Model of Dynamic Process Prediction for Tunnel Vault Sedimentation and Peripheral Convergence

The surrounding rock deformation of tunnel( vault sedimentation and peripheral convergence) is always a frontal problem in geotechnical engineering. Aimed at the shortcomings of traditional exponential curve prediction models,the growth curve model with four parameters named Richards model is proposed. The dynamic process of vault sedimentation and peripheral convergence of surrounding rock caused by tunnel excavation are analyzed to obtain three stages of the surrounding rock deformation behind the tunnel face,which can be used as a basis to get the basic characteristics of deformation-time curve showing that the sedimentation and convergence processes of surrounding rock are both accelerated and then decelerated gradually. Moreover,both the beginning and end of the corresponding speed-time curve are zero. Therefore,the time function model describing deformation process of surrounding rock can effectively fit the displacement-time curve as well as the speed-time curve. Finally,the engineering example is adopted to verify the rationality of Richards model with high precision of prediction results for vault sedimentation and peripheral convergence having certain use and reference value.
