Several Problems Related to Large-Sized Aqueduct Structure Design

Large-sized aqueduct is a kind of key hydraulic structure in the China South to North Water Transfer Project.Because the discharge of the project is much bigger than that of the aqueducts constructed in the world,it is necessary to design a new kind of aqueduct structure in order to satisfy the requirement of large discharge conveyance.However,several structural problems including structural earthquake resistance,wind proof design,shearing force mitigation,and temperature stress alleviation still bother the structural engineers.Through analysis of the problems related to large-sized aqueduct structure design,the theories and methodologies for the design of large-sized aqueduct are expatiated,and several possible structural problems are predicted and discussed.
