Study on Influential Factors of Sugar and Starch Content in Flue-cured Tobacco Leaves

Tobacco carbohydrate has an important influence on tobacco quality, especially sugar and starch. These factors including heredity, ecology, growing and curing were reviewed. Generally speaking, ①breed; ②illumination, temperature, moisture, soil; ③the levels of fertilizing; ④the time of topping; ⑤the degree of maturity; ⑥curing; ⑦fermentation; ⑧biotechnology and so on were all factors influencing the content of sugar and starch. Science and technology workers had achieved a great deal in these fields, especially in the levels of fertilizing and curing. In addition that by means of biotechnology influencing the content of sugar and starch has become a hotspot in future research. But there are many open questions. For example there are wider explorations in these researches on the relation of ecological factor and the content of sugar and starch in order to find every respect of question about influencing the content of sugar and starch and improve the quality of tobacco leaves.
