Advances in Research on Genetic Breeding and Biotechnology of Chinese Kale

Chinese kale is one of specialty vegetables in South China. In recent years,it has been introduced and cultivated in many other areas. Due to the main application of local conventional varieties,low yield,poor quality,serious diseases and pests of part of varieties constrain development of the production. Researchers have been carried out studies of germplasm resources,purification and rejuvenation,hybridization breeding,as well as basic genetic and biotechnology research and some progress has been made. This paper reviewed advances in research relevant to genetic breeding and biotechnology of chinese kale in recent years. Prospects on future research were also discussed.
