Study on Chemical Composition and Antifungal Activity in Volatile Oil of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq Fruits

Twenty-seven wild distributed Alpinia oxyphylla Miq populations in Hainan Island were chose and their chemical composition of volatile oil in fruits were analyzed by GC-MS technique.The results showed that the maximum production rate of volatile oil was 0.153%,the minimum rate was 0.003%,and the mean rate was 0.088%.There were 65 common compounds and 37 non-common compounds,and these compounds were mainly terpenes and oxygenated derivatives.The antifungal activity evaluation showed that the volatile oil of two samples could inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus.After analyzing the relationship between the antifungal activity and chemical composition among different samples,eight chemical composition,including α-Amorphene,3,7-Guaiadiene,Aromadendrene,Citronellyl acetate,d-Elemene,Elemol,Germacrene D and α-Guaiene,were significant or highly significant related with the antifungal activity in volatile oil of Alpinia oxyphylla Miq fruits.
